Behing Chrysanthème is Valeska, a 25 year old woman who has wondered quites a bit. I was a super creative kid, and that followed me until adolescence, where I probably was the only one in school to be passionate about art lessons. Then, I completed the visual and media arts program at CÉGEP de Saint-Hyacinthe. I developed my art there, particularly through photography and erotic art. It was also at this age that I discovered my love for body modification, through which I really got to know myself. I would have then dreamed of the career I have today, but life rather took me to UQAM, where I undertook a BAC in sexology. I was happy for a while, but during my third and final year of internship, I add to quit it all and take a break. This moment of soul-searching finally allowed me to realize that my place was rather where it had always been, close to my art. Then 2020 arrived, as well as 3 months of mandatory confinement during which I drew, drew and drew some more. I then looked for an apprenticeship before being adopted by my deer mentor, Eugénie . I started my apprenticeship in August of 2020 at Grey Market Montreal where I tattooed for the first year of my career. I also joined the team of the Repère aux Loups in November of 2020, where I worked until it closed in January of 2024. I then had the incredible opportunity to open my own space, l'atelier Nebula with my two amazing colleagues Citronnelle and Clandestine.
I practice handpoke or stick and poke. To learn more about this method, see the stick and poke section. I specialise in ornamental tattoos while still keeping a strong inspiration from nature, especially fauna. I practice blackwork, that is to say that I only work with black ink.
